Kauai Trip

Recently I was able to go home for my birthday! It had been a little more than a year since I had slept in my own house and enjoyed all the luxuries of a real house. It's funny how you notice everything you tend to go without as a student when you return home to "normal" life as part of a family. Cereal, milk, more than one towel, a fridge full of food, a dryer, games, more than one pillow, a closet full of movies and pets! Going home made me feel very grateful for all the blessings in my life; especially my wonderful family. My Mom is the best. She felt pretty good most the time I was there and she cooked for me too! We had fun just talking and talking and talking. We also played a game of scrabble and went for a walk in the park on Sunday. When we went surfing at Hanalei she even got in the water and floated in the waves!

Dad took off the entire weekend from work and also from church meetings so he could spend it with us! Luckily he didn't have too many things to do on Sunday so he was able to come home and cook steak for us! What a great Dad.

We went on this 9 mile hike on Monday and Dad listened to Neil Diamond the entire way! The views were spectacular, but the picture doesn't give you a good idea of how high we really were. I was short of breath because the drop offs on either side were huge!! We saw goats running up and down these cliffs like it was nothing!

Of course Scottie came home with me too and we took funny pictures at the park next to our house. He likes taking pictures about as much as I do and so don't be fooled by the cute picture of us; we were posing!! The entire weekend was awesome and much needed! I hope we can go back soon!
