Day 51-53

Day 51- On this day I was grateful for a SURPRISE DAY OFF from work.  Those days off seem to me to just be the best; I mean way better then a day you anticipate for a month or so.  When you get a phone call canceling something you had to do the night before you have to do it.  Then it's a chain reaction.  You realize you get to sleep in and then you think what am I going to do with all this precious time and then you realize it's perfect timing because your brother is staying with you.  This is how my day looked.  I slept in until 9 or so.  Then laid in bed for another hour or so.  Then I made Buttermilk waffles and cut up grapefruit.  Then we called Surf n' Swim and scheduled a Racquet Ball Court and Scott taught me and Dan how to play racket ball.  Obviously I don't know how to spell it.  We made lunch after we played and then napped a little.  Then we had a "meeting" with Jake Butler, an old missionary from Kauai, about ALASKA!

Day 52- On this day I was so very grateful for HARD WORK.  Now everyone I talk to about my "job" at Powder Mountain rolls their eyes and smirks at the fact that I even TRY to call it work.  All I can say is that they are jealous.  Anyway, I had a group lesson all morning and then a REQUEST Private in the afternoon.  People are actually requesting me to be their ski instructor.  Take that all you naysayers!  This job is pretty darn physically demanding.  Imagine two four year old children at your mercy in the cold snow.  Hats, coats, mittens, boots, skis and edgie wedgies to keep track of.  Then once we have everything accounted for we have to walk outside and up a hill slipping and sliding the whole way.  Then I have to dance around and laugh and joke and play games in the snow and up and down the hill for the next few hours and encourage and encourage and keep the little ones from hurting themselves.  I have to make sure they are having fun and, oh, by the way they must have fun!  I have to drag them up the hill over and over and over again until they can figure out how to "PIZZA" and how to "FRENCH FRY" and keep dragging them up the hill.  Then we go over to the Tow Rope and I have to "3, 2, 1, BLAST OFF" with each of my kids all the way up the hill, ski down, get the other one and up we go.  Then at the top I have to ski backwards and pray that they won't get going too fast, or run into someone, or hit their little head on something somehow.  Then lunch; I won't go there.  Then back to the slopes and then show off for the parents and then hand them off and hope they laugh and say they want to come back again tomorrow.  By the end of the day I am tir-ed!!  HARD WORK is what I was grateful for yesterday.  Oh, and by the way, I am LOVING my job.

Day 53- Today I am grateful for Sundays.  I just love having a day to do something different than normal.  I just love having the opportunity to go to church and to focus on spiritual things.  I love expressing my devotion through prayer, scripture study, song and church attendance.  It is a bright light in my week.  An anchor for me to cling to.  Sundays are the best!
