Day 12- My Gym; The Gratitude Project
So three months ago I tore my hamstring, or a portion of my hamstring muscle and I have been impatiently waiting for it to heal. At first I thought it was a strain or that maybe I had pulled my muscle. But, after weeks and then months of pain, I finally concluded that I tore the muscle completely. I've posted about this before.
Well, after almost three months of icing and heating and wrapping up my leg whenever I walk on it and spending almost every afternoon in bed, OFF my leg, trying to send healing signals to my torn muscle, I have made it back to the gym. And I am GRATEFUL!
I am going to list the reasons why I love the gym.
BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD.
BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FEEL GREAT.
AND
BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FEEL AWESOME, AMAZING AND HAPPY!
Lesson learned; when you feel pain in any part of your body immediately STOP doing whatever you are doing with that part of your body and baby it. Massage it, stretch it, ice it, heat it, massage it again, give it a rest for a few days.
A few days is NOTHING compared to THREE ENTIRE MONTHS OF NO EXERCISE!!
I am grateful for my gym.

After Lily was born I went through a very difficult time. I kept waiting for my stress level to go down and it just never did. I actually had to see a councilor because I felt like I was experiencing a lot of anxiety. Anyway, long story short, one of the things he taught me was that exercise is a great stress reliever and a great way to manage stress. It has definitely been true for me, that my day is always better and I always feel better when I exercise. :) Thanks for the reminder.
