The Semester Blues

Okay, so we are at our wits end today. We have a 10-15 page paper due in one of our classes, we have to put in our practice time, our car won't sell, my allergies are keeping both of us awake at night, there's an annoying beeping noise outside our door that has been going off for hours on end during the day and night, we are stuck in Laie because our car is broken, AND we were asked to speak on Sunday. It's just been one of those weeks. The semester is sort of winding down and we have one or two or three performances per week for the rest of the semester. We are busy and ready to be done with school. We started registering for classes next semester and realize with extra excitement how close we both are to graduating from college after close to five full years!! We will be walking in the Graduation Commencement Ceremony on December 13th.

This is what our Halloween looked like. We went fishing at Temple Beach which we have been doing almost every day for the past two weeks. I sometimes fish with Scotty, but sometimes I run the beach and then read my book or do crossword puzzles. We tried to be somewhat festive by planning to carve a pumpkin, but Foodland ran out of pumpkins by the time we got around to buying one. Here in Hawaii pumpkins go bad a few days after you carve them. They mold and smell really gross! So instead, we opted for fishing until dark and it ended up being really fun. I even caught a small red goatfish!
This baby, however, is a Baracuda; Scott caught it on his very first cast about three feet off the shore. They are really ugly fish and have long, sharp scary teeth. Very fitting for a Halloween catch. We had no idea that they swam so close to the beach. They are known to bite humans sometimes. Not edible and Scott doesn't like to eat fish anyway, so he just catches them and throws them back. This fish was a little less than a foot long.

Here is Scott after catching another fish. He gets kind of goofy and extra happy when he catches a fish and I tried to catch the moment. Right now, he is sleeping on the bed and we are trying to make it through this long day of never ending assignments and things we have to do. Hopefully tomorrow will be better and "the sun will come out!"
