Synthia Smoot made our gorgeous cake! Chocolate; our favorite! We did not cut it at our reception....
But...we did the following day at Scott's house in front of both our families who gathered to watch us open presents and to eat lunch. It was a perfect day because it was really casual and we had fun pretending to be all serious and "cut the cake" as tradition calls for. We are so not traditional! Ha ha ha! The cake was absolutely delicious and I am so grateful to Synthia for spending the time to make our wedding cake.
This is one of our many wedding gifts that I wanted to share with everyone. Rick Kinateder, my Dad's uncle, painted this picture of the Laie Temple for us the night before our reception. He paints all of the time and usually paints a picture of the temple where family and friends get married and gives it to them as a wedding gift. He was looking for an excuse to do the Laie Temple and when we got married there it was the perfect opportunity! We love it and think it was the perfect gift!
The last time we took a picture like this was at the end of my mission in our RV in 2006. Jamie lives in Boston, I am all over the place and Dan and Kaylee are usually on Kauai, so these pictures are rare. This was at the end of the day when I said goodbye to them all and we went our separate ways. Jamie is 20 and went back to Boston a few days later. Kaylee is 16 and spending an entire month with the Hale girl cousins in Lindon, UT. Dan is 22 and working on the boats along the Napali! He spent two weeks in Utah, but is home now with Dad. I miss all my siblings already and love them so much. I was so grateful they were able to come to our reception and celebrate our marriage with us!
